Hanover Central commenced its 2025 boys’ soccer season with a decisive victory on Monday, defeating conference rival Lowell 3-1 in an away game.
According to the Wildcats, led by head coach Logan Zilz, they maintained control of possession for much of the match and capitalized on their opportunities, outshooting Lowell with 17 shots on goal. Hanover Central also forced three corner kicks while maintaining pressure on the Red Devils’ defense.
Senior forward Kevin Otworowski delivered a notable performance, scoring two goals, including one from a direct kick. Zilz contributed with a goal and assisted on Otworowski’s first strike. Midfielder Aldo Desiderio added an assist, supporting the Wildcats’ aggressive attack.
“Our boys were ready to play,” Coach Zilz said. “They possessed the ball well, created multiple chances, and did a great job locking things down defensively.”
The Wildcats’ defense remained strong throughout the night, limiting Lowell’s attack and recording three saves. The team also managed to stay composed despite being flagged for four offsides.
The victory moves Hanover Central to 1-0 for the season. The Wildcats aim to maintain their momentum in their upcoming matchup against Griffith.
