Hanover Central boys wrestling delivered a strong team performance at the IHSAA Boys Wrestling Regional at Crown Point, totaling 92.5 team points against a deep Class A1 field.
The regional tournament took place Feb. 7 at Crown Point High School, where Hanover Central competed against top programs from across the area in postseason action.
Julian DeLuna headlined the Wildcats’ effort with a dominant run to the regional championship at 106 pounds. DeLuna went 3-0 on the day, earning three falls to secure first place and 24 team points. His path to the title included pinfall victories in the quarterfinals, semifinals, and championship match, capping an efficient and controlled performance throughout the bracket.
Hanover Central also received multiple podium finishes across the lineup. Joseph Paun placed second at 150 pounds, earning 17.5 points, while Israel Sinnott added a runner-up finish at 175 pounds with 18 points. Carter Gary finished third at 113 pounds, Isaiah Buikema placed third at 132, and Jack Dietz and Carter Hall each earned fourth-place finishes at 120 and 144 pounds, respectively.
The Wildcats’ depth and consistency across weight classes allowed them to accumulate points throughout the tournament, placing multiple wrestlers on the podium and continuing the program’s postseason momentum at the regional level.
