The Hanover Central girls’ soccer team continued its strong postseason run with a 4–1 victory over Kankakee Valley, securing a place in the next round of the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Class 2A Girls Soccer State Tournament.
The match took place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Hanover Central High School in Cedar Lake. The Wildcats began aggressively and connected early in their attack.
According to reports, Hanover jumped ahead 3–0 in the first half through quick passing combinations and relentless offensive pressure, keeping Kankakee Valley pinned in its own half. The Wildcats added a fourth goal after the break to secure the win, while Kankakee Valley managed a late strike to avoid a shutout.
Senior forward Addison Bonner led the scoring charge by finding the net twice and creating multiple chances throughout the evening. Senior Fabian Medina and freshman Julianna Bonato each added goals. Bonner and Bonato both recorded assists to complete the team’s strong offensive effort. Goalkeeper Layla Nestor made several key saves to hold Kankakee Valley to a single goal.
Head coach K. Doty said, “This team is clicking at the right time,” adding that they are playing confident and connected soccer with everyone stepping up to make an impact. Doty expressed pride in how they have approached every challenge this postseason.
With this win, Hanover Central improves to 12–5–1 overall and remains unbeaten in sectional play. The Wildcats will aim to maintain their playoff momentum when they face Culver Academies on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.
