Hanover Central’s volleyball team maintained its unbeaten record in the conference with a decisive 3-0 victory over Highland on Tuesday, September 30, during a Northwest Crossroads matchup.
The Wildcats dominated the first two sets with scores of 25-6 and 25-13, demonstrating aggressive serving and a balanced offensive strategy. Highland made a strong effort in the third set, challenging Hanover point-for-point before the visitors secured the sweep with a 25-23 win.
Hanover Central (18-4, 9-0) relied on standout hitters and consistent defense. Senior Nora Edgerton led the offensive charge, while setter Gabi Esparza facilitated plays with accurate passing and assists. Libero Liliana Chorba played a crucial role in defense, preventing Highland from gaining momentum in the initial sets.
Despite their loss, Highland (6-18, 0-9) showed resilience late in the match. Senior outside hitter Hannah Ladewski led the Trojans with several key kills and service points. Libero Sam Zurlis contributed significantly to the defense with 17 digs. Setter Elena Herrejon provided 13 assists as Highland nearly pushed for a fourth set.
