Hanover Central girls basketball earned a road nonconference victory, defeating Hammond Bishop Noll 57–52 in a tightly contested matchup.
The game was played Jan. 9 at Hammond Bishop Noll High School in Hammond, Indiana.
The Wildcats built their advantage in the middle quarters, outscoring Bishop Noll 22–10 in the second period to take control before holding off a late push in the fourth. Senior B. Oostman led Hanover Central with 17 points and a team-high 10 rebounds, providing a strong inside presence on both ends of the floor. Junior Simone Parker added nine points and seven assists, while senior Claire Edgerton chipped in six points on efficient shooting. Hanover Central shot 42 percent from the field and converted key free throws down the stretch to preserve the five-point margin.
Defensively, the Wildcats limited Bishop Noll’s perimeter looks and forced the Warriors into difficult half-court possessions. Despite a strong effort from Bishop Noll’s Giniya Williams, who scored 17 points, and Jaiden Hall, who added 13, Hanover Central maintained composure and closed out the game with solid ball control and rebounding.
Up next, Hanover Central will travel to face Hobart at 7 p.m. on Jan. 22 in a nonconference road matchup.
The two teams last met Jan. 17, when Hanover Central defeated Hobart 64–44 at home.
