Hanover Central’s boys soccer team secured a 2-0 victory over Griffith on August 21, showcasing their defensive strength and effective ball movement.
According to head coach Zilz, the Wildcats (2-0) controlled possession throughout the match, taking 14 shots and earning seven corner kicks while limiting the Panthers’ opportunities. Zilz credited his squad’s ability to win 50-50 balls and maintain composure in the midfield for their strong performance.
Senior forward Aldo Desiderio led the attack with two goals, while Kevin Otworowski contributed two assists. Freshman Logan Zilz also added a goal in what was described as a balanced offensive effort by Hanover Central.
Despite being penalized for one offsides and receiving one yellow card, Hanover Central maintained control of the game’s tempo. The defense remained solid, highlighted by three key saves that preserved the shutout. “We built up play really well and created some great scoring opportunities,” Coach Zilz said. “Defensively, the team was locked in from start to finish.”
The victory continues Hanover Central’s perfect start to the season, following a dominant 5-0 win against Bishop Luers in their opener. The Wildcats aim to maintain their momentum as they progress through their early schedule.
