The Hanover Central Wildcats concluded their regular season with a decisive 42–0 victory over Hammond Central on Friday night. The game took place on October 17 at Hanover Central High School in Cedar Lake, where the Wildcats’ offense and defense both performed exceptionally.
According to the match statistics, quarterback Wyatt Tewell completed 9 of 14 passes for 93 yards and a touchdown. The rushing attack was led by sophomore Ben Baswell, who amassed 121 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. Junior Isaiah Buikema contributed with 79 yards and two touchdowns, while sophomore Davion Rivers also scored, resulting in five rushing touchdowns for Hanover.
Receiver Anthony Layman caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Tewell, and senior kicker Logan Zilz successfully converted all six extra points. Defensively, juniors Cory Haessly and Bubba Mowry each recorded a sack. Haessly further distinguished himself by forcing a fumble and recovering another, contributing to the team’s effort that kept Hammond Central scoreless.
Hanover Central is set to travel to Lowell for a postseason matchup on October 24.
