Hanover Central picked up its first victory of the season Friday night, rolling to a 28-0 shutout over Highland in Northwest Crossroads Conference play. The win improved the Wildcats’ record to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the league.
The Wildcats established control from the opening quarter, finishing long drives with points and taking an early lead. The offense showed balance throughout the game, mixing steady runs with timely passes to keep Highland’s defense off balance. By halftime, Hanover held a two-touchdown advantage and carried momentum into the second half.
The offensive line provided the foundation, opening holes on the ground and protecting the pocket to allow drives to extend. Two more scores after the break put the game out of reach, giving the Wildcats a commanding four-touchdown cushion.
On defense, Hanover delivered its best performance of the season. The front controlled the line of scrimmage, while the secondary shut down passing lanes. Highland struggled to move the ball, often punting deep in its own territory, while Hanover capitalized on the field position advantage.
The complete effort gave the Wildcats a much-needed boost and a strong start in conference play as they look to climb back.
