Hanover Central boys basketball dropped a 58-28 decision to Gary West Side in a home non-conference matchup.
The game was played at Hanover Central High School as the Wildcats hosted Gary West Side in regular-season action.
Hanover Central competed throughout the contest but was unable to keep pace as the game progressed. Gary West Side built separation by controlling the tempo and limiting Hanover Central’s scoring opportunities, while the Wildcats continued to battle defensively and work to generate offense. Despite the final margin, Hanover Central showed effort on both ends of the floor and continued to compete through all four quarters.
The Wildcats were led by a core group of upperclassmen and juniors who anchored the lineup. Seniors Langdon Oldenburg, JP Driscoll, Ben Schreiber, Jack Geldmyer, and Owen Sosnowski provided leadership and experience, while juniors Lukas Valiska, Beau Wiancek, Christopher Maranowicz, Anthony Layman, Greg Sheppard, and Callan Salgado contributed across multiple positions. The group worked to keep the Wildcats organized and competitive against a physical opponent.
Up next, Hanover Central will travel to face Kankakee Valley on Feb. 20, with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
The last meeting between the two programs took place Feb. 21 of last season, when Hanover Central earned a 66-49 victory over Kankakee Valley.
