Hanover Central boys wrestling earned a third-place team finish at the IHSAA Boys Wrestling Sectional on Saturday, scoring 208.5 points.
The sectional tournament took place Jan. 31 at Crown Point High School, where Hanover Central remained in the team race throughout the day with consistent scoring across nearly every weight class.
The Wildcats placed wrestlers in both championship and consolation rounds and built separation from much of the field with depth and balance across the lineup. Hanover Central crowned one sectional champion, as Julian DeLuna captured first place at 106 pounds to anchor the team’s performance. Carter Hall finished second at 144, Joseph Paun placed second at 150, and Israel Sinnott earned a runner-up finish at 175 to provide key team points.
Additional scoring came from Carter Gary (113), Jack Dietz (120), Isaiah Buikema (132), and Braulio Corral (157), all of whom placed third and added key points in the team standings. AJ Gill added a third-place finish at 215, while James Tarzon placed fourth at 285. Noah Sinnott (138) and Isaiah Phalen (190) contributed fifth-place finishes to round out the scoring effort.
