Hanover Central’s girls basketball team secured a 49–28 victory on the road, leveraging a strong start and balanced scoring to dominate their non-conference game against North Newton.
The matchup took place on Saturday, November 22, at North Newton High School in Morocco, Indiana. The Wildcats initiated the game with an 18-point first quarter and expanded their lead to 30–13 by halftime through effective inside scoring and robust half-court defense. Hanover Central sustained its momentum with a 7-point third quarter and concluded with an additional 12 points in the fourth quarter to clinch the win.
Senior Sienna Stilley recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Claire Edgerton contributed eight points, showcasing perfect interior shooting, while Simone Parker added seven points along with five assists. Kaydence Beach also contributed six points and four rebounds. The Wildcats collectively made 15 field goals, converted 18 of their 33 free-throw attempts, collected 32 rebounds, and registered 12 assists alongside nine steals. They limited North Newton to single-digit scores in three quarters.
Looking ahead, Hanover Central will face Kankakee Valley on Monday, December 9, at 7 p.m. The teams previously met on December 10 of last season when Hanover Central narrowly defeated Kankakee Valley with a score of 38–35 in another close non-conference encounter.
