Hanover Central High School’s boys basketball team is entering a new era under the leadership of head coach Chandler Spring. The team aims to build on last year’s sectional championship while reshaping a roster that has seen the departure of most of its veteran players.
Spring takes over a team that lost six seniors, which constituted the majority of its rotation, including size and scoring capabilities. He emphasized that this year’s roster has undergone significant growth, and he is eager to see how the newly formed team responds to their elevated roles.
According to Spring, seniors Benjamin Schreiber and Langdon Oldenburg will be instrumental in driving this transition. They gained valuable experience by competing against last season’s varsity leaders in practice. Both seniors said that their daily experiences taught them how to match physicality and intensity, preparing them to carry leadership forward for a group looking to prove itself.
Spring mentioned that Hanover Central’s culture will be built on three pillars: joy, toughness, and togetherness. He expects players to find energy in their work, stay connected on the floor, and embrace competing in a challenging conference.
The team’s next game is scheduled against Westville on December 8 at 7 p.m.
