The Hanover Central Wildcats girls’ basketball team is advancing through its 2025–26 season with an emphasis on patience, leadership, and development under the guidance of veteran head coach Larry Gover.
According to Gover, after a 15-win campaign last winter, the team graduated several key contributors but remains confident in the foundation built over the last three seasons. The Wildcats are set to play their fifth game of the season at home against Whiting on Thursday, November 20, at 7 p.m. inside Hanover Central High School. Gover said that while experience is limited, leadership will carry them forward. “We’re younger and still learning, but these girls listen, work hard, and lead by example,” he said. “It’s about being patient and progressing each game.”
Sienna Stilley and Simone Parker are anchoring the roster as returning starters. Stilley, who is also a standout softball player, expressed her appreciation for basketball’s competitive balance. “I’ve been playing since kindergarten — it’s always been my favorite,” she said. Parker mentioned her goal this year is to set an example for younger teammates. “I want to be a reliable leader on and off the court,” she said. “Confidence and communication are what I’m working to improve.”
Next on their schedule: Hanover Central will travel to North Newton on Saturday, November 22, at 12:30 p.m.
