Hanover Central opened its 2025 football season Friday with a 31–0 road loss to Michigan City, a challenging start that nonetheless offered lessons for the weeks ahead.
Michigan City controlled the pace early, scoring on its opening drive and forcing Hanover Central to play from behind. The Wildcats showed resilience by stringing together possessions in the first half, but stalled in the red zone and were unable to convert opportunities into points. On defense, Hanover Central battled to limit explosive plays, with several strong tackles in the secondary preventing the score from widening even further.
Despite the final result, players and coaches emphasized effort and resolve. The game provided experience for younger starters adjusting to varsity speed and underscored the importance of execution under pressure. Coaches stressed that sharpening fundamentals and improving consistency will be the priority in practice this week.
The Wildcats now turn their attention to their home opener against Bishop Chatard, where they aim to bounce back and build confidence in front of their fans.
