Hanover Central sends 11 to IHSAA girls track regionals

Hanover Central’s girls track team carried its sectional success into the IHSAA Regionals on May 26, with 11 entries competing after strong qualifying performances in Hobart. 

The Wildcats demonstrated strength across sprints, distance, hurdles, field events, and relays at the sectionals meet.

Junior Althea Zinmer led the middle‑distance unit with a fourth‑place finish in the 800 meters at 2:23.65, while also doubling back in the 3200 to place seventh. Senior Kennedy Morgan added another distance highlight, securing fifth in the 3200 with a time of 12:03.63 to move on.

In the hurdles and jumps, junior Simone Parker qualified in two events, taking fourth in the 100‑meter hurdles at 15.83 and second in the long jump with a mark of 16‑10.75. Sophomore Natalie Forrest advanced in the 400 meters, placing sixth in 1:00.28.

The Wildcats also showed depth in the field. Senior Malissa Butler advanced in both throws, placing fifth in the shot put at 36‑6.25 and seventh in the discus at 104‑0. Pole vaulters Ali Smith and Zoey Morache tied for sixth at 8‑6, earning regional berths.

Hanover’s relay squads rounded out the qualifiers. The 4×100 team of Kiarra Carver, Ryah Doty, Rhyan Jones, and Bella Sarkey placed fourth in 51.60, while the 4×400 team of Carver, Sarkey, Forrest, and Liliana Ramirez finished sixth in 4:13.12. In total, Hanover Central advanced 11 entries from sectionals, all of whom represented the Wildcats at the IHSAA Regionals on May 26.
