The Hanover Central Wildcats rallied from a five-run deficit to defeat the Highland Trojans 8-7 on Tuesday.
The game took place on Tuesday, April 21, at Highland.
The Highland Trojans jumped out fast with a steal of home by Damian Castellanos in the first inning. They pushed the lead to five in the second when David Klapkowski was hit by a pitch to drive in a run, Brady Boyd lined out for another RBI and Logan Finch delivered a two-run single.
The Hanover Central Wildcats answered immediately, scoring five runs on only two hits in the bottom of the second. Dylan Bowen drew a walk to score, Aidan Creasbaum ripped a three-run double and Paulie Hobbs walked in the fifth run. Ian Flores then tripled in the third to hand the Wildcats a 6-5 lead.
After Finch singled to tie it at six in the fourth, Zac Alexander doubled home the go-ahead run in the fifth and an error added insurance for an 8-6 final margin.
Ian Flores earned the win in relief, allowing one run on four hits with four strikeouts over three and one-third innings. The Wildcats finished with nine hits, led by Gavin Henison’s 3-for-4 night and Creasbaum’s three RBIs. Dylan Bowen drew three walks as Hanover Central coaxed eight free passes overall. The Highland Trojans collected 11 hits, paced by Kirk Dapshis (3-for-4) and Finch’s three RBIs.
