The Hanover Central Wildcats boys wrestling team secured a narrow victory at the Harvest Classic, scoring 232 points to surpass the Portage Indians, who scored 227 points, and the Hobart Brickies with 213.5 points. The competition featured 16 teams.
The meet took place on Friday, December 6, as part of the regular-season tournament schedule.
According to the results, Hanover produced individual champions in three weight categories: Julian DeLuna at 106 pounds, Evan Cryderman at 126 pounds, and Joseph Paun at 150 pounds.
Additional podium finishes were achieved by Isaiah Buikema (132 pounds), Carter Hall (144 pounds), and Israel Sinnott (175 pounds), who each earned silver medals. Caleb Chambers took third place at 190 pounds.
Contributions from Carter Gary (113 pounds), Aiden See (165 pounds), and James Tarzon (285 pounds) helped secure top-eight finishes for the team.
The depth of Hanover’s team was evident as more than ten wrestlers contributed to the scoring effort, allowing them to surpass other teams such as Penn, Perry Meridian, and Brother Rice from Illinois.
Looking ahead, Hanover Central is scheduled to travel to Munster on December 17 for a dual meet.
