Langdon Oldenburg and JP Driscoll helped lead Hanover Central to a strong conference road victory, as the Wildcats defeated Kankakee Valley 45-32 behind a balanced defensive effort.

The Northwest Crossroads Conference matchup took place Feb. 20 at Kankakee Valley High School in Wheatfield, Indiana.

Hanover Central built momentum early, taking a 9-7 lead after the opening quarter before extending the advantage to 21-14 by halftime. The Wildcats created separation in the third quarter, outscoring the Kougars 15-5 to take control of the game. Hanover Central’s defensive pressure limited scoring opportunities throughout the middle quarters, holding Kankakee Valley to just five points in the third period. The Wildcats maintained composure late, converting free throws and protecting the lead during the final minutes despite a fourth-quarter push from the Kougars.

Senior leadership played a key role in the victory, with Oldenburg, Driscoll, Ben Schreiber, Jack Geldmyer and Owen Sosnowski helping guide the Wildcats through key stretches on both ends of the floor.

Hanover Central continued conference play following the road win as the regular season schedule moved toward postseason competition.

The victory added another chapter to the conference rivalry, as both programs continue to battle annually within the Northwest Crossroads Conference standings.
