Israel Sinnott capped his Hanover Central wrestling career with a 34-8 senior season and a second-place finish at semi-state to qualify for the IHSAA State Finals at 175 pounds.
Sinnott advanced through the IHSAA state tournament series during the 2025-26 season, competing at sectional, regional and semi-state rounds, with the semi-state held Feb. 14 at East Chicago Central High School.
The Wildcats senior placed second at sectional, regional and semi-state to earn his return trip to the state finals. Ranked as high as No. 4 in the state during the season, Sinnott recorded multiple wins over ranked opponents, including victories against Vinny Freeman of Penn and Aiden Granger of Hobart in postseason competition. He opened the state tournament series with a 10-6 decision over Lowell’s Tymothy James and later secured pins against Patrick Mochen of Chesterton and Carter Ogborn of Rensselaer Central to advance through the bracket.
Sinnott qualified for state in back-to-back seasons and finished his senior campaign among the top-ranked wrestlers at 175 pounds. His 34 victories and consistent placement throughout the state series highlighted a four-year progression that included multiple sectional and regional podium finishes.
With his career complete, Sinnott leaves Hanover Central as a two-time state qualifier and one of the program’s top competitors in the upper weights.
