Twiddy’s three‑run blast unleashes Wildcats’ comeback in narrow 6–5 finish

Hanover Central’s baseball team showed resilience and late-game firepower in a narrow 6–5 loss to Lake Central on May 25, a matchup that highlighted the Wildcats’ ability to battle back on the road.

Lake Central built a 4–0 advantage through three innings, scoring on a first‑inning fielder’s choice, adding two more runs on productive outs in the second, and pushing another across in the third following an error. Despite the early deficit, Hanover settled in defensively and positioned itself for a surge.

That breakthrough came in the fifth inning. Dillon Twiddy delivered the biggest swing of the night, launching a three‑run home run to left field that instantly tightened the game and energized the Wildcats’ dugout. Moments later, Isaac Flores lifted a sacrifice fly to bring Hanover within one, completing a four‑run inning that shifted momentum squarely in the Wildcats’ favor. Twiddy finished 1-for-3 with three RBI, while Ryan Espinoza turned in a perfect 2-for-2 performance at the plate to help fuel the comeback.

Jacob Siska took the loss after allowing one run on one hit in his inning of work, but Hanover’s pitching and defense steadied as the game progressed.

Though the rally ultimately fell just short, Hanover Central demonstrated grit, timely hitting, and the competitive edge that will serve the Wildcats well moving forward.
