Hanover Central showcased a well-rounded effort in its boys volleyball match against Westville, blending efficient attacking with disciplined defense and steady ball control.
The match unfolded on Wednesday, May 6, at Westville High School, where Hanover seized early momentum with a 25–16 opening set and never looked back, turning strong net play and sharp serve receive into a decisive 3–0 non-conference victory.
The Wildcats spread their offense across multiple hitters, with Landon Laurinas leading the charge at 10 kills and a .318 hitting percentage. He was backed by Gavin Miller and Greg Sheppard, who combined for 12 kills, while Elio Lopez added three more. Hanover totaled 29 kills on the night, keeping Westville’s defense under constant pressure.
Defensively, Hanover’s front line was anchored by Lopez, who tallied five block assists, and Laurinas, who added four total blocks. In the back row, Caiden Shofroth led with 12 digs, while Miller and Vince Teruel chipped in eight and nine, respectively, ensuring rallies stayed alive. Ball distribution was steady, highlighted by Ben Staley’s five assists and Teruel’s three.
Hanover also excelled in serve receive, with Miller’s 17 receptions and Teruel’s 13 clean passes underscoring the team’s composure. Altogether, the Wildcats combined efficiency at the net with defensive grit to secure the sweep.
