Hanover Central head coach Tony Bonalerto has expressed that one of the region’s newest rivalries has quickly gained prominence.
“I have a lot of respect for Lowell High School, and I have a lot of respect for Coach McKim,” Bonalerto said. “It’s one of the coolest new rivalries. We’ve played great games already, and we look forward to another one this year.”
According to Bonalerto, the teams even encountered each other at Manchester team camp this summer. “We were unloading our bus as they were unloading theirs,” he said. “It’s a fun rivalry. It’s not negative, just competitive.”
The coach said that he welcomes the challenge posed by the rivalry. “I think it’s a great game for the region,” Bonalerto said. “The kids know it’s special, and so do the fans. Rivalries like this are what make high school football great.”
With both programs aiming for Northwest Crossroads Conference (NCC) and sectional contention, Bonalerto anticipates another hard-fought matchup. “It’s going to be a great one,” he said.
