Wildcats girls basketball dominates middle quarters, defeat Fighting Eagles

The Hanover Central Wildcats defeated the Edison Fighting Eagles 66–45 in a girls varsity basketball non-conference matchup. 

The match was held on January 28 at Hanover Central High School. 

According to reports, the Wildcats were propelled by strong performances from Sienna Stilley and Brooklyn Oostman. Stilley achieved a double-double, scoring 32 points and securing 14 rebounds, while Oostman contributed eight points and nine rebounds.

After trailing by two points at the end of the first quarter, Hanover Central launched an offensive surge that outscored Edison 43-18 during the second and third quarters. This significant scoring run allowed the Wildcats to maintain control of the game despite a slower pace in the final quarter. By the end of the game, Hanover Central’s balanced approach and defensive strategies secured a comfortable 21-point victory, evening their record at 10-10.

Looking ahead, Hanover Central is set to face River Forest in a neutral-site playoff matchup on Friday, February 6. This game is part of the 2025–26 Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Class 3A Girls Basketball State Tournament (Sectional 18 | Kankakee Valley). In their last encounter on December 13, 2025, River Forest lost to Hanover Central with a score of 53-36 in a non-conference home game.
