The Hanover Central Varsity Wildcats outlasted the Portage Varsity Lady Indians in a high-scoring 20-11 victory.
This matchup took place on Thursday, May 7, at Portage High School, where the Wildcats and Indians staged a diamond shootout with bats that never cooled and a scoreboard that could barely keep up.
Sienna Stilley anchored the relentless 22-hit offensive performance by belting two home runs and totaling five RBIs, highlighted by a solo blast to center field in the very first inning. Rebecca Ferguson, Kaylee Blocker, Claudia McMahon, Alyssa Baughman, Nora Edgerton, and Dallas Bowen each contributed multiple hits to the cause, fueling massive scoring outbursts of five and six runs in the third and fifth frames, respectively. Jordyn Varble earned the victory from the circle after entering the game, allowing just three runs over four innings while recording three strikeouts to stabilize the defense. The Wildcats never let up, continuing their late-game surge as Kaden Poppe and Bowen both connected for RBI singles during a final five-run push in the sixth inning to seal the win.
