Hanover Central High School’s boys soccer team achieved a 3-0 victory over Bishop Luers of Fort Wayne on Saturday. The match, held at Elkhart High School, highlighted the team’s teamwork and senior leadership.
According to the game report, both teams engaged in aggressive play against the top-ranked 2A school in the state. Hanover Central managed 12 shots on goal, six corner kicks, and just one offsides. Goalkeeper Owen Sosnowski recorded 14 saves, maintaining control for the Wildcats.
Senior captains Logan Zilz and Sosnowski were instrumental in the win. Zilz contributed with a goal and an assist, while Kevin Otworowski added another goal. “Our seniors kept the team motivated and focused throughout the match,” said Coach Zilz. “Their communication and leadership made a huge difference in maintaining our momentum.”
The first half ended scoreless until Hanover Central gained an advantage when Zilz pressed Bishop Luers’ center back, stole the ball, and scored the go-ahead goal. The Wildcats maintained their momentum to secure a 3-0 win.
The victory improves Hanover Central’s record to 4-1, reflecting their growing confidence and chemistry as the season progresses.
